Serevi Rugby® Hires Chris Tombs as High Performance Manager

Former Cardiff Blues and Leicester Tigers strength and conditioning coach brings 20 years of experience to build Serevi Rugby Institute and Combines

Bringing nearly 20 years of sport specific training, Chris will lead the company’s high performance strength and conditioning programs including the Serevi Rugby Institute in which individual players and teams receive personalized strength and conditioning programs integrating recovery and lifestyle areas for enhanced performance. Prior to joining Serevi, Chris most recently led strength and conditioning provision for two professional rugby teams in the U.K – the Cardiff Blues and Leicester Tigers.

After attaining a Masters of Science in Sport and Exercise Science, Chris began his career in the fitness industry at one of Britain’s leading gyms – The Third Space. He moved onto sports specific performance preparation with the English Institute of Sport as a Specialist Trainer where he managed strength and conditioning programs for elite athletes in the London region. Over the last 10 years, Chris has helped teams win championships in two professional sports: the Leicestershire Foxes (cricket) in the inaugural Twenty20 cup, and both the Amlin and EDF Cups with the Cardiff Blues (rugby).

Along with his focus on the Institute, Chris will lead the re-launch of the highly successful Serevi Combines. Athletes attending Serevi’s High Performance Training Camps and Resident Camps will be tested and tracked on a series of essential speed, agility, and strength metrics, and the Combines will continue to be integrated into other Serevi programs and rolled out as stand alone events. The Combine concept is seen as an important area of athlete evaluation, which recognizes and identifies athleticism and its relevance in developing future rugby talent.
