Atavus’ own Head of Rugby Emilie Bydwell has been selected to join Team USA’s Women’s 7s Rugby team as their Team Leader. We couldn’t be more proud of her and we are excited to share her experience with you along the way. Emilie will be reporting from Rio here on our blog. Make sure to tune in daily to follow along!
8/3/16 – Rio, Brazil
Since arriving in Rio it has been non-stop! Being around athletes from over 200 different countries is unreal. The media around the team and village has taken some getting used to with cameras and microphones everywhere. The players and coaches have been giving interviews and are doing a great job of representing rugby. It’s all really fascinating, but we’re all very focused on the task at hand.
We had the opportunity of walking around and taking a field tour of the Olympic Rugby Field. It’s a lovely arena and we can’t wait to run out on it. Training has been really great, with the players raising their intensity. We had a really funny moment yesterday. While we were practicing our lineouts, a crowd of gymnasts came out to watch, taking photos and in between doing quadruple back flips! All a bit surreal, but we can’t wait until Saturday when the real business begins!
