[ESPN] Front Rowe: Football Teams Turning To Rugby-Style Tackling

Holly Rowe of espnW talks with Ohio State and Ole Miss players about a new tackling technique that is more effective and safe.

Head injuries and concussions have become a major concern in football in recent years, and now teams — both NFL and college — are introducing a new method of tackling with the hope of improving player safety.
The rugby style of tackling puts the emphasis on the shoulders and body rather than the head.
“I feel like it’s going to pay off in the long run,” Ole Miss defensive back Mike Hilton said.
Holly Rowe joined ESPN on a regular basis in August 1998 as a college football sideline reporter. Rowe has also provided play-by-play of women’s college basketball and women’s college volleyball for ESPN since 1998.
