On a sweltering night last week, Alicia Trump leaned over the railing of her porch on North Franklin Street and looked out over the field that runs behind Manchester school.
A cloud of dust rose from the bone-dry dirt as the Pittsburgh Rugby Football Club’s men’s team slugged its way through a defensive drill, thumping tackling dummies loud enough to turn the heads of passers-by. Across the field, the club’s women’s team was pushing heavy tires across the grass.
It’s interesting to watch,” said Ms. Trump, 32. “Those girls look pretty strong too. … I’ve never seen it on T.V. If I was flipping through the channels, I’d probably stop to watch it.”
